I am 100% an Oily girl! I cannot go without these little magical healers in our home. I have 3 boys, a husband, and a dog, and we are ALWAYS mixing one concoction or another together for self healing, or aromatherapy, or even cleaning. To keep this edition less loquacious and more to the point... let me tell you my MUST HAVES for oils. I literally panic and order Amazon Prime Next day delivery if I run out of ANY of these puppies!
*I am not a distributor of essential oils. The below Links are not currently affiliate links.
I also do not have an oil brand preference, as I know vibrationally that many therapeutic brands of oils do heal.
I have purchased certain brands at Wal-Mart, and I find them to be non-effective. I can't even stand them on an aromatic level.
I have also purchased non name brand oils made for local healthfood stores and these are also very effective.
Personally My oil collections consist of NOW Brand, Eden's Garden, some Young Living, Some Plant Therapy, and a few other healthfood store brands.
If you prefer DoTerra Oils and do not have a distributor, you can use the below link:

A Lovely Brand that I love to use out of California that is non- MLM is Eden's Garden:
Neat (used directly on the skin) - this is not recommended Diluted (added to a base oil)
Diffused (placed in a diffuser for inhalation)
The App at the bottom of the page will mention T or I which is Topical or Ingested, or A which is Aromatic
I prefer to get basic Grapeseed oil as my base oil, unless we are making sunscreen, because we use a lot of skin oil, and Grapeseed produces the least breakouts from my experience. I buy from Amazon, but also in a pinch, this can be obtained from the shelf in the cooking oil aisle in the local grocer, as can coconut oil, almond oil, and EV olive oil!
This is my absolute favorite oil. Anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, as well as antispasmodic, analgesic, detoxifying, hypotensive, and sedative effects. I keep it in the diffuser while I work, or just in a bowl of water at my desk. We mix it in with my laundry detergent. I put it in a spray bottle with water and thieves (fighting five) oil for a homemade sanitize spray that we take with us wherever we go. We put this in our shampoo. For fever, we also use a drop of lavendar and a drop of peppermint oil at the base of the spine and pull upwards using a cotton swab. This reduces fever quickly in kids and adults alike.
(Boswellia) This oil is known for stress relief, pain reduction, and inflammation reduction.
In our home, we use Frankincense as a cough suppressant in our diffuser, along with Eucalyptus and Thieves during cold season. We use it in all things skincare, including our sunscreen, baby bum powder, bug bite salve, and skin conditions. It has been known to be used in those with cancer. My husband burned his finger last year at a campsite. We immediately oiled him up with frankincense, lavender, and helichrysum, and for as bad as his burn was, he barely even had a reaction. I also include this in the oil we use on our joints if they ache post workout and for muscle soreness.
Fighting Five (germ fighter)
This is the name of the blend that is made by Eden's Garden, but essentially (see what I did there?) ... this is a blend of Lemon, Cinnamon Leaf, Rosemary, Clove Bud, Eucalyptus Globulus and Eucalyptus Radiata. These oils work together to boost the immune system and fight germs and bacteria. This is excellent as a hand sanitizer mixed in witch hazel, or water in a spray bottle. We use it in our diffuser, in our toothpaste, mouthwash, and it even can be placed on a splinter or bee sting and a few minutes later, the object will have been drawn out and can be retrieved. This one is a GEM and can be found under different names, and sometimes different blends.
DoTerra = On Guard
Young Living= Thieves
Plant Therapy= Germ Fighter
Eden's Garden= Fighting Five
(do not use on children under 2 1/2 years of age)
Peppermint is an AMAZING oil. The number one ailment this is helpful for in our home is nausea. Anytime anyone is nauseous in our home, we sniff the peppermint bottle, or dab a drop of peppermint (dilute as needed) on our bellies and we feel so much better. It also helps us with constipation and fever. We also include this in our toothpaste and mouthwash.
AGAIN: (do not use on children under 2 and 1/2 years of age)
Orange oil is anticancer, antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, digestive, sedative, and tonic.
Orange oil is great for skin tightening, just make sure you do not expose yourself to sunlight with ANY citrus oil in your skin, as it can lead to burns. I like to put this on before bed some nights, and was it off in the morning. I also use orange oil in cleaning solution, as a mood uplifter, and to help remove funky smells from items in the laundry.
Lemon Oil is anticancer, antidepressant, antiseptic, anti fungal, antioxidant, antiviral, astringent, refreshing, and tonic.
I use this to get the yellow out of my toenails in a water and Epsom soak after I have had nail polish on them for a long time. My teenager uses lemon oil in a baking soda paste with water to scrub blackheads and acne on his face, and follows up with tea tree as an astringent. I have used lemon oil to take atrocious stains out of about everything you can imagine. It is also an excellent mood enhancer to diffuse.
* You should not place this on the skin if you will have sun exposure.
This is not the same as lemon oil. As it is a natural anti-inflammatory agent, antiseptic, anti cancer, and bug repellent, we use this to control swelling and edema and also in our homemade bug spray.
Oregano oil is antibacterial, anti fungal, anti parasitic, antiviral, immune stimulant, antiseptic to the respiratory system.
We use this oil for ingrown toenails, warts, and diffuse only when the kids aren't around when there is a nasty viral issue in the household. Also, to take internal we only use these.
*This is a HOT Oil. It will burn you if you use it neat
Carrot Seed oil is anti fungal, carminative (relieves gas,) hepatic (cleanses the liver,) stomachic (enhancing appetite or assisting digestion.)
The only thing we use this oil for in our home is for homemade sunscreen. We live in Florida and two of us are PASTY white and we burn very easily. Our homemade sunscreen works wonderfully and doesn't contain any of the junk the ones from the store contain.
Eucalyptus is an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-catarrhal (helps to thin mucus,) anti-infectious, antiviral, expectorant.
This is the main oil used in rubs like Vicks and other rubs. We use this on our dog for flea and tick control, we use it in a diffuser for mosquito control. We diffuse as a musus expectorant when there is a nasty upper respiratory infection abound.
Valor/Align: A Blend of Spruce/ Rosewood? Blue Tansy and Frankincense.
We use these for sleep and snoring.
Tea Tree (Melaluca)
Tea Tree (Melaluca) is analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiparasitic, a strong antiseptic, antiviral, decongestant, digestive, expectorant, immune- stimulant, insecticidal, neurotonic, stimulant, and tissue regenerative.
In our home, we use tea tree in the washer to freshen our clothes, and a few drops on our dryer balls. This is our skin astringent. We use this as a cleaner for our household, as well as for an after the gym sanitizer. I have had numerous skinn issues dissolve due to the use of tea tree oil.
Basil oil is antibacterial, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic (stomach/intestinal), antispasmodic (powerful), antiviral, decongestant (veins, arteries of the lungs, prostate), stimulant (nerves, adrenal cortex), and uplifting. Basil may also be anticatarrhal, antidepressant, energizing, and restorative. In our home, my Husband tends to experience migraines, so we take a rag and drop 4 drops each of Basil, Helichrysm, Lavendar, and Peppermint. He lays the rag next to his head and inhales the aroma. This helps to clear the migraine rather quickly.
Helichrysum is antibacterial, anticatarrhal, anticoagulant, antioxidant, antispasmotic, antiviral, expectorant, and mucolytic.
Helichrysum is wonderful for anything skin related. I have personally used this in combination with Lavendar and Frankincense to heal post surgical and traumatic scars. In addition to the Migraine oil, I use this for bruises, eczema, tinnitus, and we have even used it for tattoos.
Here are the oils and links to these to learn more on Amazon.
Fighting Five (thieves, on guard, etc)
Peppermint (do not use on children under 2 and 1/2 years of age)
There is an app that I have on my phone for all things Oil remedy that I LOVE. I have used it for years. It is by Young Living but I can look up the blends ingredients and make the oils myself if I need to, because I am not partial to companies.
